Lake Wobegon® Brass Band Member

Name:  William Ekstrum
Instrument:  B-Flat Cornet

Bill Ekstrum started playing the trumpet when he was nine years old, and currently enjoys playing the trumpet, cornet and flugelhorn.  He's having a great time playing cornet for the Lake Wobegon Brass Band. 

Bill has performed with a variety of groups over the years, including the University of Minnesota Concert Band Ensemble, the U of M Marching Band, the Rochester Symphony Orchestra, the Rochester Park Band, the Continental Army Command Band, the North Suburban Concert Band and the Encore Wind Ensemble, where he currently is the trumpet section leader.  He also performs in churches, and has been a soloist in a variety of settings.

Bill has a B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota, and a J.D. degree from William Mitchell College of Law.  After practicing law for 25 years, he now serves as a District Court Judge in Washington County. 

Bill and his wife Margaret have two daughters and five grandchildren.  In addition to music and being with family, he enjoys reading, playing bridge, tennis, bicycling, traveling and a variety of other activities.

Bill is happy to have the experience of making music with all of the fine musicians in the LWBB.
