Instrument:  Baritone

Charlie Preis has been teaching in the Twin Cities area for over twenty years and is currently in his thirteenth year as Director of Bands, Choral Music and Orchestra at Washburn High School in Minneapolis.

When Charlie is not teaching at Washburn, he keeps himself busy in other venues around the Twin Cities.  He directs the Century college Concert Band, in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.  He used to play euphonium in the band back when it was the Lakewood Community College Concert Band, and that's where he met his lovely wife, Lynn.

Charlie has been a church choir director for eighteen years.  Most recently he was the director of the Sanctuary Choir, Marty's Music Makers (a Dixieland Band) and the jazz band, Jazzification By Grace, at Grace Lutheran Church in St. Paul.

Charlie also teaches in the summer beginning band program in the Mounds View School District, where he had the immense pleasure of being his children's first band teacher (Alexander, trombone; Ariana, trumpet).

Charlie is a proud graduate of Luther College, Decorah, Iowa and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan where he received a Master of Music degree.  In what little free time he has, Charlie likes to spend time with Lynn, Alexander & Ariana exploring the wonderful worlds of Harry Potter, Star Trek and, of course, a galaxy far, far away...
