In July of 2001, the LWBB went on tour in England and Wales, United Kingdom. This CD consists of recordings from that tour. The LWBB performed at the following locations: 1.
On Thursday, July 19, 2001, the LWBB performed an indoor evening
concert with the Bournemouth Concert Brass at the Guild Hall in
Winchester, England. 2.
On Saturday, July 21, 2001, the LWBB performed an outdoor morning
concert at the Welsh National Folk Museum at St. Fagans near Cardiff, Wales. 3.
On Saturday, July 21, 2001, the LWBB performed an indoor evening
concert with the Welsh Championship-winning Tongwynlais Temperance
Silver Band (http://www.tonband.org.uk)
at the Bishop of Llandaff High School, near Cardiff, Wales. 4.
On Sunday, July 22, 2001, the LWBB performed an indoor afternoon
concert at St. James’s Church (http://www.harrogate.co.uk/stjames),
in Birstwith, England.

On Monday, July 23, 2001, the LWBB performed an indoor evening
concert with the ASDA Stocksbridge Band (http://www.stocksbridgeband.co.uk)
at the Victory Club in Stocksbridge, Sheffield, England.
In September 2001 the ASDA Stocksbridge Band won the National Brass
Band of Great Britain Championships, making them the number one brass band
in all of Great Britain in the first section.
The combined Stocksbridge and LWBB bands’ live performance of
“Canterbury Choral” is on this disc. 6.
On Wednesday, July 25, 2001, the LWBB performed an outdoor afternoon
concert at the annual Queen’s Flower Show on the Royal Estate at
Sandringham, Kings Lynn, England.
The LWBB was the first band from outside Great Britain to perform
at the Flower Show in its 120-year history.
Flugelhorn player Dick Miller was personally presented to the Queen
Mother and Prince Charles. |
